INDIANAPOLIS — It will be another mild day across central Indiana. It will be mostly cloudy today with temperatures climbing to near 50 degrees.
Temperatures will continue to rise this evening and overnight as a warm front lifts north of central Indiana. Rain will also arrive this evening and will continue into Thursday early afternoon.
The cold front will arrive during the morning hours, triggering showers and thunderstorms. A few storms could be strong to severe.
Wind will be the main threat from the storms, but the wind will also be the biggest story of this system.
The wind will increase out of the southeast early Thursday morning, sustained from 15 to 25 mph. Temperatures will rise into the upper 50s by 7 a.m.
As the low pressure system moves over central Indiana Thursday, the pressure gradient will tighten up. This will allow the wind to increase to 25 to 35 mph sustained winds. Gusts around 60 mph will be possible.
A High Wind Watch is in effect from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, and a Wind Advisory is in effect for south central Indiana.
Trees and power lines could come down during this strong wind evening. The winds will shift out of the northwest too, allowing temperatures to fall the rest of the day. The air temperature will be down into the low 40s by late afternoon.
The wind will relax Friday, and it will be cooler. Temperatures will start off in the low 30s, with a high in the low 40s. A few snow showers will be possible by afternoon.
