INDIANAPOLIS — An Excessive Heat Warning is now in effect through late Thursday for most of Indiana.
Highest air temperatures today will be in the upper 90s across the western tier of the state, mid-90s around the metro and into the low 90s east this afternoon. Heat indices will once again be in the heat danger zone, topping between 100-110 degrees for many spots in central Indiana, especially across the western tier of the state.
Thursday will be the day to consider rescheduling any outdoor activity, especially in the afternoon. This will be the hottest stretch of this heat dome, with highs nearing record levels in the upper 90s and heat indices ranging from 105-115 degrees.
We'll still be hot and humid on Friday ahead of a frontal boundary that will bring some changes for the weekend. Highs on Friday will be in the mid-90s and still with heat indices of 100-110 degrees.
This boundary could potentially fire off a few storms late Friday evening into Saturday morning, especially across the far southern tier of the state.
Temperatures will become more seasonal starting Saturday with big improvements, including below-average high temperatures and low humidity arriving Sunday into the start of next week.
