INDIANAPOLIS — Hurricane Delta made landfall at 6:30 a.m. ET over the Yucatan Peninsula as a category 2 hurricane with 110 mph winds.
At 8 a.m., winds have decreased to 105 mph.
Delta is expected to move north, making landfall again along the Louisiana border by Friday afternoon.
After it makes landfall sometime Friday, it will run into the friction of land and will weaken. Right now, computer data models are bringing some rain into south central Indiana Saturday evening, with a few spotty showers to the rest of central Indiana by Sunday.
Even though this is tropical moisture, there does not appear to be widespread rain associated with this system. Portions of Indiana are under moderately dry conditions.
The last time Indianapolis had a tenth of an inch of rain or higher goes back to Aug. 18, where 0.85” of rain fell.
