INDIANAPOLIS — Unseasonably warm temperatures are in the forecast as we wrap up the month of February and enter March.
Mostly sunny skies dominate as a dome of high pressure remains in control of our weather.
Highs will be in the low 50s Monday afternoon as warmer air gets pushed into the region by a south wind.
Temperatures continue to trend upward for the first day of March on Tuesday with highs nearing the 60° mark. That's 15° above average for this time of year. Skies will be mostly sunny with increasing evening clouds.
Wednesday will be the warmest day of the work week with highs in the low 60s. A quick weather system comes through late Wednesday and early Thursday that will bring the chance of a wintry mix across the northern tier of the state.
This system will also push colder air into central Indiana, lowering temperatures into the mid 40s for highs.
This will only be a brief cooldown as we're right back into the low 50s Friday afternoon, then into the 60s this weekend. The Climate Prediction Center has central Indiana under a 60-70% chance of above average temperatures through the middle of next week.
