INDIANA, USA — UPDATE: A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for parts of central Indiana, mainly south Indianapolis, including Greenwood, Bloomington, Columbus, Bedford, Seymour and Terre Haute until midnight.
A tornado watch is in effect for southern Indiana including Evansville, Jasper, Vincennes, New Albany and Jeffersonville until 2 a.m.

Race Day 8 p.m. Update
- Second round of storms beginning to take shape in Missouri & Illinois and builds eastward over the next 2-4 hours
- Storms on radar during that time will have severe wind/hail potential
- The higher probability of severe storms, including potential of strong tornadoes, is along/south of a line from Sullivan-Bloomington-Columbus
- Areas well north of I-70 may see only sporadic showers and storms overnight
Round two: Developing
- We've been monitoring increasing storm coverage along an approaching boundary from the west
- These storms will not impact the race, but they may impact fans going home
- Damaging wind and flooding rainfall will be more likely along and especially south of I-70, then closer to the Ohio River
- These complexes should be out of the state near 3 a.m.
The severe threat still holds for Indiana later tonight, but the highest chance for wind and hail storms will be in southern Indiana. Generally, the closer you are to the Ohio River, the worse the storms may be.
Looking ahead:
- A stray shower or storm is possible for Memorial Day, but there will also be some sun with highs in the 70s.
- Another shower or two is possible Tuesday as well.
- Most of next week will be mild with highs in the 70s.
