Why are temperatures forecast to be so much cooler by this weekend?

A secondary dry cold front will move through Friday morning and bring in a reinforcing shot of cooler and drier air. In fact, dew points will fall into the 40s/low 50s, which is "off the charts" pleasant. This front will also serve as the driving force keeping the tropical remnants of "Debby" at bay across the eastern seaboard.

THIS WEEKEND: Overnight high and low temperatures will run about 10 degrees below normal for this time of year this weekend. That takes overnight lows into the mid to upper 50s with highs only in the mid to upper 70s. We'll eventually see more seasonal temperatures as the pattern begins to break down early next week. It still looks mainly dry through the extended forecast, though.
