INDIANAPOLIS — Wind gusts from 30-50 mph across the Midwest will bring a blast of near-record warmth to the area ahead of some much-needed rainfall expected on Halloween.

Today will be another sunny but cool day with highs in the low 60s. We've got one more chilly overnight with frost possible as temperatures drop into the mid to upper 30s by Monday morning.

Slightly warmer for Monday

The pattern will shift tomorrow as winds become more southerly, pumping in more mild air. High temperatures return to near 70 degrees under a mainly sunny sky.

Increased risk of rapidly spreading fire with dry and windy conditions for Tuesday and Wednesday

It is recommended to postpone outdoor burning under these conditions. Winds continue to pick up for Tuesday and Wednesday with 35-45 mph gusts, which will also push temperatures to near-record highs near 80 degrees. It is also a good idea to make sure outdoor items, such as Halloween decorations, are secured.

A cold front arrives on Halloween morning, and rain showers will be likely along this front through Thursday afternoon. Temperatures will be in the upper 60s in the morning ahead of the front and drop into the upper 50s behind the front Thursday evening for trick-or-treating. The heaviest of the rain will be out of the area by sunset, but a few stray showers could linger Thursday evening.

Friday will be clear but cooler with highs back near 60 degrees. Next weekend looks mild, with temperatures recovering back into the mid to upper 60s.
