INDIANAPOLIS — It'll be a mainly cloudy day to wrap up the month of January. Drier air will eventually take over during the late afternoon and allow for a few peeks of sunshine before the sun sets just after 6 p.m. Temperatures recover into the low 40s.
It will stay partly cloudy overnight with low temperatures falling to the freezing mark. We'll see some sunshine to kick off the month of February tomorrow as high temperatures climb nearly 15° above average to the low 50s. A weak frontal boundary will push south through the state in the late afternoon, which brings increased clouds and a stray shower across the southern tier of the state.
While clouds linger early Friday, we'll see skies clearing in the afternoon as temperatures remain above average with highs near 50. Morning clouds aren't necessarily a bad thing if you follow the Groundhog Day predictions. If the groundhog doesn't see its shadow (cloudy skies), then spring comes six weeks early!
A dry, unseasonably mild pattern will continue into the weekend with highs in the low 50s. While high temperatures are expected to be slightly cooler the start next week in the upper 40s, sunshine and dry weather continues.
