INDIANAPOLIS — The first cold weather alerts of the season, including a Freeze Warning and Frost Advisory, will be in effect for parts of central Indiana tonight.

Lake-enhanced showers and clouds impact temperatures tonight
While the sky will begin clearing across most of the state by this evening, lake-enhanced clouds and rain showers will continue across northwestern Indiana. Where clouds linger, temperatures will remain more mild. Where skies clear across eastern and southern Indiana, temperatures drop more rapidly overnight.
Cold-weather alerts in effect overnight
With lows forecast as low as 28 degrees near Richmond, a Freeze Warning will be in effect through 9 a.m. Wednesday, and a Frost Advisory will be in effect for western and southern portions of the state with lows of 32-36 degrees.

While a few clouds linger in northern Indiana Wednesday, we'll see sunshine returning. Temperatures remain below average though, with highs still only in the mid-50s Wednesday afternoon.
The coldest morning this week will likely be Thursday, with lows falling to the freezing mark across central Indiana and widespread frost possible. It will be sunny and warming into the low 60s in the afternoon.
Above-average temperatures become the "norm" in extended forecast
Temperatures will be more seasonal starting Friday and into next weekend, with highs back in the low 70s.
By this weekend, the average high temperature in Indianapolis will drop to 65 degrees. The longer-range forecasts are trending toward a warmer setup through the 10-14 day outlook with a 70% chance of above-average temperatures.
