INDIANAPOLIS — February's weather had a little bit of everything for central Indiana.
According to the National Weather Service, it's the fourth warmest February on record for Indianapolis. The average high was 41.2°, which is 8.7° above normal. The warmest days were close to 30 degrees above average and the coldest were about 10 to 15 degrees below.
Indy broke five records. Three were new daily record high temperatures: Feb. 26 reached a high of 73°, which contested the overall record high of 77° for the month. Two days set a new daily record warmest low temperatures.
Mid-February brought the coldest and snowiest days.
Indy received 3.9 inches of snowfall on Feb. 16. Northern portions of central Indiana picked up a half-foot or more. Muncie received a half-foot and Tipton picked up 7 inches.
Feb. 17 reached a high of 23 and a low of 13.
Central Indiana also saw severe weather at the end of the month. On Feb. 28, a tornado watch was issued, along with seven severe thunderstorm warnings and one tornado warning.
Indianapolis picked up 1.62 inches of rainfall, 0.81" below normal.
