INDIANAPOLIS — Today will be the transitional day to cooler weather this weekend as a cold front swings through the state.
Cold front moves through today
- 3-8 p.m.: Isolated damaging wind threat across the southeast tier of the state.
- Highs still reach the upper 70s around the Indy metro, 80s south of central Indiana.
- Better chance of scattered rain and isolated storms will develop in the late afternoon around the Indy metro.
- Winds will shift from the southwest to the northwest and you'll notice a drop in temperatures as the front passes.
Operation Football should be in decent shape across central Indiana as rain is set to wrap up by between 7 - 9 p.m. in southeastern Indiana.
A fall feel arrives this weekend
- Temperatures drop into the upper 40s overnight as skies clear.
- Highs on Saturday will be 10-15 degrees degrees below average (Avg. = 82 degrees).
- Sunny and breezy with northerly wind gusts up to 25 mph at times.
Layers may be needed for Colts tailgaters Sunday
Very chilly air arrives Saturday night as low temperatures fall into the low to mid-40s by Sunday morning. Highs rebound into the low 70s under a sunny sky. Odds are the roof and windows will be open for the Colts game Sunday afternoon.
The cooler air will be short-lived this weekend
Temperatures will begin to trend back upward starting on Monday with highs near 80 and will continue to climb back through the 80s throughout next week.
