INDIANAPOLIS — Step outside this morning and you will feel the change. Cooler air is drifting into Indiana, and many counties have already experienced some rain this morning. Remember, the average high is actually 37, so our 42 degree high will be above average, but certainly cooler than what we have been used to. Take an umbrella or rain coat if you are going to be out for any lengthy period of time.

By the way, we mentioned rain, not snow. Indianapolis has not seen measurable snow yet this season. That is the third-latest date of measurable snowfall on record. It is possible we could see some flurries the next few days, and perhaps we would have some light snow for Colts tailgaters on Sunday, but don't look for a lot of accumulating white stuff. It is just not in the cards...so far.

Not to get too technical, but given the environment with warm ground and overall light snow amounts, the most likely scenario Sunday, for instance, is no accumulation to a coating. For those of you who are computer guidance fans, if any mesoscale banding occurs, then an inch of snow is not out of the question, but that isn't likely at this point.

The seven-day outlook keeps temperatures in the upper 30s and low 40s for the next week, including New Years Eve.
