INDIANAPOLIS — We are waking to the coldest air of the season for many folks in Indiana this morning. Wind chills hovered in the single digits all night and into this morning, and due to a cold west-northwest wind, it will stay unseasonably cold all morning and into the afternoon.
Wear your warmest today with a hat, gloves and warm coat necessary all day, especially for the kids heading to school.
The polar flow of the jet stream dips south today, so our pattern is very much like early January rather than November. We have had a few snow flurries this morning, but as drier air takes over, the flurries will likely disappear this morning.
Clear skies will stay with us through the afternoon hours with dry air advecting and surface pressure rising. That is good news for us because it means that once we get past today, we will see gradual warming. In fact, our highs will be above average Thursday in the low 50s.
