INDIANAPOLIS — Today will be the pick of the holiday weekend with much warmer temperatures. We're looking at a sunny but breezy start to St. Patrick's Day weekend with high temperatures in the low 60s this afternoon.
A weak cold front will move through this evening bringing southwesterly wind gusts of 30-40 mph. While moisture is meager with this system, a few stray showers are possible between 6 and 10 p.m. across central Indiana.
Skies will clear overnight as much colder air returns. Look for mostly to partly sunny skies with highs in the mid 40s for St. Patrick's Day.
As a colder air mass continues to take over, temperatures will continue to drop for Monday with morning wind chill values in the teens and highs only in the upper 30s. A few snow showers across the northeastern tier of the state will be possible as well.
This cold snap won't last long as we'll recover to the low 50s Tuesday. We'll be more seasonal through next week with highs in the 50s. The pattern stays quiet with dry weather expected through Thursday. The next rain chance returns on Friday and this will also bring a drop in temperatures. We'll likely see highs only in the 40s for Friday and into the start of next weekend.
