INDIANAPOLIS — Welcome to the weekend! We continue to monitor a decaying storm complex to our west early this morning. As we stated in the updated forecast yesterday, this will bring us a much cloudier set-up today than we've had the past two days.

Overall, clouds have more bark than bite today with the exception of some scattered sprinkles and showers — that mainly occur between 9 a.m.-2 p.m. This despite the fact it may be fairly overcast during that time, but a drier layer near the surface eats away at a lot, but not all, of potential precipitation. Any rain should be light and likely not last long in any given area —the exception being closer to and south of the Ohio River where low-level moisture will be higher.

Clouds linger into the afternoon with some peeks of sun and a more humid feel to finish today as dewpoints near 60 degrees for a period of time. Another front moves across the state overnight and this could trigger additional scattered showers or at worst a few storms before drier air returns Sunday.

Lingering morning clouds give way to a brightening sky on Sunday with milder highs nearing 80 degrees in the afternoon. A stronger surge of cooler air (closer to 70 degrees vs 80 degrees) hits Monday with a stiff northerly wind that gusts over 30 mph into Monday afternoon.

As high pressure settles over central Indiana Monday night, the wind eases and under a clear sky low temperatures settle into the 40s/lower 50s early Tuesday morning — our coolest temperatures in the seven-day forecast.

We're still targeting late next week and beyond Father's Day weekend with a streak of unseasonably warm air that likely produces our hottest air of the year and potentially a streak of 90-degree days between June 13-22... if not longer.

Stay tuned.
