INDIANAPOLIS — A blast of arctic air will be the dominant weather feature across central Indiana for the next few days.
Look for mostly to partly cloudy skies today, with steady temperatures in the upper 20s and low 30s. Westerly wind gusts up to 25 mph at times will make it feel even cooler, with wind chills ranging from 15-20°. Bundle up if you're headed downtown to cheer on the Pacers. Temps will be in the 20s, with wind chills in the teens, for tipoff at 7 p.m.
The coldest temperatures in eight months arrive tonight into Tuesday morning, with lows in the teens and wind chills dropping to -5 to 5°.
With temperatures below 20° for several hours overnight, keep these tips in mind to help protect your pipes from potentially freezing up.
Highs again Tuesday will likely stay below freezing across the area in the upper 20s.
Temperatures will return to more normal levels by Wednesday, with highs in the mid-40s.
Thursday will be the warmest day in the extended forecast with highs in the low 50s ahead of our next storm system that brings rain back into the forecast Thursday night into Friday.
More seasonal temperatures continue for next weekend with highs in the mid-40s Saturday under a partly cloudy sky and rebounding into the low 50s Sunday as rain chances return.
