INDIANAPOLIS — The weather pattern in central Indiana, and much of the country for that matter, is settling down just in time for Thanksgiving. A mix of sun and clouds for us today with temperatures ranging from the mid-40s to lower 50s.
Visible satellite imagery shows more concentrated cloud cover west of Indianapolis to the Illinois border with a scattered cloud deck along and east of I-65. This cloud layer likely lingers this evening before diminishing later tonight.
Seasonably chilly temperatures in the lower 30s (possibly mid-20s away from Indy in areas that clear quicker) to start Thanksgiving. Plan for that if you're one of the thousands pounding the pavement in Broad Ripple for the annual Drumstick Dash.
Temperatures reach the 40s by 11 a.m. and the combination of sun and west-southwest wind delivers 50s for highs Thanksgiving afternoon. Have a great holiday and know that there should be no major weather issues for traveling.
Clear and chilly for early morning Black Friday shopping with lows Friday morning in the 20s. Much of the day should be sunny and noticeably colder due to the passage of cold front/windshift and highs closer to 40°.
This marks a transition to a colder than average trend and increased cloud cover for the weekend. Saturday remains dry but we're still monitoring a weather system that brings the likelihood of a snow/rain mix on Sunday.
Depending on timing and temperature, it's not out of the question some of the snow could stick a bit IF it arrives quick enough before surface warm. Check back for updates.
From all of us in the Live Doppler 13 Weather Center to all of you, have a happy Thanksgiving!
