INDIANAPOLIS — We'll go from frosty morning lows in the upper 30s this morning to highs nearing 90 by Thursday afternoon.
Frost in June?!
It was a near-record cold start to today.
- Lows in the upper 30s with frost reports in outlying locations, including northern Hancock County, Montgomery County, and Tippecanoe County
- Coldest morning in Indy since April 25 (37°)
- Few degrees shy of a low record in Indy 44° (record 41° from 1980)
- Latest (of the spring season) low of 44° or below in Indy since June 1992
It's looking good for the rest of the day, though, as a high pressure dome dominates, keeping skies clear and temperatures near average with highs in the upper 70s.
TONIGHT: We'll see some increased clouds this evening and overnight as winds shift to the south, so it won't be as cool for Wednesday morning with lows in the mid-50s.
TOMORROW: Transitioning to much warmer weather as winds shift to the southwest. Look for highs in the mid-80s Wednesday with sunny skies.
THURSDAY: Could be the first 90° day of the season with winds increasing to 20 mph from the southwest.
When will it rain again?
Thursday will be a dry day ahead of a cold front arriving late, bringing a chance of scattered storms after sunset and exiting before daybreak Friday.
Temperatures remain above average, but perhaps a few degrees cooler than Thursday with highs in the mid-to-upper 80s. Skies clear Friday afternoon.
We'll see similar temperatures on Saturday with highs in the mid-to-upper 80s ahead of the core of the heat dome taking over by Sunday. Highs will then be in the low 90s for Father's Day, with highs likely in the 90s well into next week.
