INDIANAPOLIS — The first phase of the winter storm brought 4-8 inches of snow northwest of Indianapolis from Thorntown to Lafayette to Battle Ground. It was mainly raining most of the day from Indianapolis to the southeast. The rain changed to sleet around 6 p.m. in Indianapolis and that change from rain to sleet to snow will continue this evening.

The next phase of the winter storm arrives after midnight. Phase 2 will bring the heaviest snow and gusty winds to central Indiana on Thursday. We are still forecasting a foot or more of snow north of Indianapolis with lower totals due to more sleet south. This is a still-developing winter storm and we will have lots of updates through Thursday evening when the snow ends.
