INDIANAPOLIS — A Wind Warning is in effect for counties mainly north of Interstate 70 in central Indiana until 7 p.m. Thursday. This includes Indianapolis to Lafayette and Marion.
Wind gusts could reach as high as 50 to 60 mph out of the southwest.

Just before 5 p.m., AES Indiana reported more than 6,800 customers were without power. Duke Energy reported nearly 3,000 outages in the state — many of them in the Bloomington area.
AES Indiana shared an update around 2 p.m. on Twitter, saying the wind had caused damage throughout central Indiana and they're working to restore power.
In another tweet, AES reminded customers not to attempt to clear fallen trees from power lines themselves.

Power lines were down on South East Street, near East Southern Avenue, in Garfield Park. Several poles blocked the road.
There was more damage in Lawrence, where a tree fell on a two-story house in the 7400 block of Oakland Hills Court, near East 75th Street and Sunnyside Road.
Another house on the east side Indianapolis suffered damage after tree fell on it. The home is on North Shortridge Road, near East 30th Street and Shadeland Avenue. Firefighters confirmed nobody was home when the tree fell on the house.
