INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb signed an executive order declaring disaster relief for Delaware, Randolph and Jefferson counties one week after severe storms and tornadoes caused widespread damage.
In the aftermath of the March 14 severe weather that ripped through east central and southern Indiana, Holcomb signed the declaration to provide assistance and coordination efforts with appropriate federal, state and local agencies to provide services in Delaware, Randolph and Jefferson counties.
“I’ve taken action to ensure the victims of Mother Nature's wrath can rebuild their roots here in Indiana,” Holcomb said. “I want those impacted to know that the state is here to help in whatever capacity is necessary."
In total, 38 Hoosiers were injured, 62 structures were destroyed and 72 other structures suffered major damage. Power outages reportedly affected almost 10,000 homes.
The Indiana Department of Health, Indiana Department of Homeland Security, Bureau of Motor Vehicles and Family and Social Services Administration have a coordinated plan to help affected Hoosiers. Click here for a list of locations where support is being provided.
Holcomb's office says Hoosiers should call 866-211-9966 for referrals to necessary services and to report damage. Those needing emergency mental health services are encouraged to call 988 to be connected to resources.
