MADISON COUNTY, INDIANA, Ind. β Severe storms β including a confirmed tornado β caused damage through Madison County and parts of east central Indiana Monday night.
A surveyor with the National Weather Service confirmed a tornado went through Madison County July 29. NWS ruled it was an EF-2 tornado that started in eastern Hamilton county around 9:41 p.m. on Monday.
Wind speeds may have been as high as 135 miles an hour.
Photos from 13News viewers showed damage to the Frankton-Lapel Administration Building at Madison County Road 300 North and County Road 800 West.
A spokesperson for the Edgewood Volunteer Fire Department said the building is a former school that now houses administrative offices. A back-to-school event was held at the building earlier Monday evening.

The spokesperson also said about a dozen school buses that are parked near the building were damaged.
Representatives for the district promised to post updates on the district website and Facebook.
Tuesday afternoon, they posted a message thanking first responders.
Several tornado warnings were issued for storms across Madison, Henry, Fayette, Wayne and Union counties Monday night. Most of central Indiana was under a severe thunderstorm watch throughout the night, into Tuesday morning.
There have been no reports of injuries at this time.
