List of central Indiana businesses closing outdoor activities Wednesday due to unhealthy air quality

INDIANAPOLIS — It's the second consecutive hazy day in central Indiana due to the heavy smoke from the Canadian wildfires.

Here is a list of central Indiana businesses closing outdoor activities June 28:

Children's Museum of Indianapolis

The world's largest children's museum announced the outdoor portion of the Riley Children's Health Sports Legends Experience will be closed at least through Wednesday morning due to the air quality.

Museum staff will reevaluate this throughout the day an provide updates on social media.

Connor Prairie

All outdoor experience areas at Connor Prairie are closed Wednesday, June 28. Indoor areas and Adventure Camp are still open.

The grounds will reopen for regular operating hours Thursday, June 29.

Fishers Parks

The Geist Waterfront Park and Fishers AgriPark have been closed due to the unhealthy air quality.

Horseshoe Indianapolis Race Course

All races Wednesday at Horseshoe Indianapolis Race Course in Shelbyville were canceled due to air quality concerns.

 "A decision on bringing today’s races back will be made shortly," the track said in a statement.

IMPD Northwest District

The group cancelled its annual Community Day event scheduled for the day at 4 p.m.

Plainfield Parks & Recreation

In an abundance of caution for the air quality, the Plainfield Parks Department is moving recreation swim from Outdoor Splash Island to Indoor Splash Island today, June 28th. 

With Outdoor Splash Island closing, Indoor Splash Island will open from 11am until 4 p.m."

You can still experience the 2-story waterslide, interactive children's play area and much more, the city posted on Facebook.

Officials will continue monitoring the air quality throughout the day to determine if Wet Wednesday will still be held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. this evening.

Zionsville Parks & Recreation

All park programs and activities have been cancelled or moved indoors in the town.

"We encourage you to limit your time outdoors," the organization said in a statement.
