A weak weather system is the reason for the clouds across the northern half of the state today. There were a few flurries and snow showers too. We are tracking another cold night, but it will be dry. Forecast low temperatures are in the 20s. Expect mostly cloudy skies on Thursday, but it won't be as cold as high temperatures reach the lower 40s. Highs will be in the middle 40s with clouds on Friday. There is a slight chance for a stray shower later in the day Friday.
As we look toward the weekend, there will be a couple of weather systems to track. The first will bring clouds and a few rain/snow showers to the area on Saturday. Highs will be near 40 degrees. Colder air arrives on Sunday, as another storm system develops. The cold air and the track of the storm for the end of the weekend and early next week are keys to the type of precipitation. Right now we will call for a wintry mix developing late Sunday night into Monday, but stay tuned for updates as we get the latest analysis. The back edge of this system will bring a few snow showers to the area early Tuesday before the weather pattern drys back out.
