Sledding and snowboards: Finding fun in the snow in Indianapolis

Dave Calabro and Taylor Tannebaum stopped at Butler University and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to check out some winter fun.

INDIANAPOLIS — Thursday's snowstorm meant a day off for a lot of people in central Indiana, which meant it was time for some fun in the snow.

13Sports Director Dave Calabro and sports anchor Taylor Tannebaum headed out in search of some of that fun and found it at Butler University. They joined students who were sledding down the hill at the Butler Bowl.

Taylor even had a close call with Butler Blue IV!

The sports team left the slopes of Butler behind and headed south to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where snow covered the iconic racetrack. While it may be the offseason for drivers and their teams, IMS President Doug Boles didn't pass up the opportunity to turn a lap - on a snowboard!

It was reminiscent of the visit Hoosier Olympian Nick Goepper made to IMS in March 2014, skiing around the track and performing aerial tricks in front of the pagoda.

After the fun, Dave and Doug sealed the visit with a stop at the start-finish line to kiss the bricks.

If the snow isn't your thing, no worries - Race Day is just 115 days away!

It wasn't all just fun for our sports team Thursday. While traveling the city, they also helped at least a couple of motorists stuck in the winter mess.

They helped one stranded motorist get some gas to help him and his 7-month-old son get to the store and Dave used his Jeep to get another driver moving through snowy Speedway.
