Previewing Chuck's Big Adventure in New England

Chuck Lofton's trip through Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont begins airing on 13Sunrise Halloween morning.

MAINE, USA — The air is crisp, the seaboard is rocky but the leaves ... the leaves are so colorful that New England is a colorful work of art that draws literally millions of guests every fall.

We experienced the very best that autumn has to offer, and we are bringing it to Indiana as part of Chuck's Big Adventure beginning Halloween morning on 13Sunrise.

Our trip began along the rocky coast of Maine, singing sea shanties with a couple who is helping to take this ancient art form back to mainstream audiences. While in Maine, we saw the rugged but beautiful coastline of Maine via plane. During our flight, we viewed both the Atlantic Ocean and the seemingly endless forest of a massive park, which features trails, islands and deep woods.

A highlight of our series will be the beautiful sunset on Cadillac Mountain, an autumn tradition that has drawn generations to the mountaintop for a one-of-a-kind view.

They're back! Chuck Lofton and crew had a great time in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont! Stay tuned for Chuck's Big...

There was so much to see, and we crammed a lot in during our 12-day trip. In Vermont, we visited the Von Trapp family, immortalized in the 1965 film, "The Sound of Music." Johannes Von Trapp, in his 80s, is the last surviving child of Maria and Georg Von Trapp, and you'll hear him talk of his family and the legacy they left. Also, grandson Sam Von Trapp sings on camera — for the very first time!

We visited Dog Mountain, a moving place with a story that began in grief but continues today as a place to celebrate "man's best friend."

We also saw how two small New Hampshire towns have turned a curious art form into a tourist destination.

One of my favorite stops was the summit of Mount Washington, a place generally regarded as the worst weather in America, but for me, a thrilling bucket list destination — complete with ice, snow and high wind. We'll take our viewers to check out the observation tower with a sledgehammer handy to break off ice.

There is so much more to talk about, but we will just let you enjoy the wonderful stories ... from pumpkin people, to shanty singers to one of the world's most famous families.

Be sure to watch our Chuck's Big Adventure series from New England beginning Oct. 31 on 13Sunrise.
