INDIANAPOLIS — Crews opened the westbound lanes of Interstate 465 on the southwest side of Indianapolis prior to the morning rush on Thursday, July 27.

Bridge deck overlays, road surface upgrades and placement of drainage structures were just some of the tasks completed during the closure.

Starting Wednesday night and early Thursday morning, road crews lifted the directional closure on westbound I-465.

Westbound traffic will be moved back to its temporary configuration – consisting of three travel lanes with concrete barriers on both shoulders – to allow crews to continue working in the area, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation.

The closure, which began after the evening rush hour on Friday, July 7, is part of the I-69 Finish Line Project.

INDOT said these closures were necessary to allow crews to safely complete work. You can find a video explaining the closures and detours here.
