Turkey truck crashes on I-65 near downtown Indy

The semi jackknifed into to the barrier wall and spilled its load onto the street below.

INDIANAPOLIS — A semi trailer traveling on Interstate 65 into downtown Indianapolis struck a barrier wall and spilled its load onto the street below early Thursday morning.

A pile of frozen turkeys littered West 11th Street near Illinois Street as the semi teetered at the edge of I-65 above.

The driver was not injured.

A bridge inspector was called to assess damage to the interstate.

Southbound traffic into downtown was restricted to the left lanes of I-65 near West Street and the exits to West and Illinois/Meridian were closed during Thursday morning's rush hour.
