SPEEDWAY, Ind. — The Town of Speedway just presented it's final proposal to expand the use of golf carts around town.
This conversation all started back in March when an exploratory committee was formed and got to work. The town received 30 applications for the 10 person committee.
After multiple meetings and discussions, they've crafted a final proposal for consideration.
It includes:
- Prohibited streets
- Parking rules
- When carts can be impounded
- Weather restrictions
- Decoration restrictions
- Speed limits
- Time restrictions around racing
- Age restrictions for operating
- Safety equipment required
- A $100 to $200 registration fee
- Fines for violating rules
The Council is planning a public meeting on Oct. 28 to hear feedback before a final decision is made.
