INDIANAPOLIS — Semi crashes in the North Split and South Split of I-65/I-70 impacted Monday morning traffic in downtown Indianapolis.
A third semi slid off I-65 near the Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. around 6 a.m., also blocking inbound lanes. That crash was cleared before 8 a.m. after backing up traffic to 38th Street.
In the North Split, a semi rolled around midnight on the ramp from westbound Interstate 70 to southbound Interstate 65. That ramp was still blocked at 5 a.m. as crews were cleaning up the load and transferring to another truck.
Crews completed crash cleanup around 9:15 a.m.
Overnight traffic was able to access southbound I-65 using the Michigan/Ohio/Fletcher collector ramps during the crash cleanup.
As crews were addressing the crash in the North Split, another semi tractor heading northbound in the South Split from eastbound I-70 rolled and ruptured a fuel tank just after 4 a.m.
Hazmat cleanup at that scene wrapped up around 8:15 a.m. Drivers from the west side of Indianapolis had to exit on West or Meridian streets to access downtown Monday morning.
The third semi crash on the northwest side of downtown was blocking the two right inbound lanes of I-65 near MLK at 6:30 a.m. That crash was cleared before 8 a.m.
Officials have not released any information about possible injuries to the drivers in the crashes.
A fourth crash on inbound I-70 at Rural/Keystone was slowing traffic from the east side of Indianapolis into the North Split before 7 a.m. but has since cleared.
