INDIANAPOLIS — Another part of the North Split construction project is expected to reopen this weekend.
The ramp from Pine Street onto eastbound Interstate 70 on the east side of downtown should reopen by Saturday morning, weather permitting.
The ramp closed in late July as crews worked on the connection from Pine Street to Interstate 65 northbound. Three bridges were demolished and rebuilt and new pavement was poured as part of the construction project.
Despite the opening to Interstate 70, traffic will not be able to go north on I-65 from the Pine Street connection at this time.
College Avenue will also reopen to traffic on Saturday morning after a closure for beam placement and wall installation. INDOT said the opening is about a week ahead of schedule.
The street will, however, close again in the future to allow for more bridge work to be completed.
Finally, drivers should be aware that East 10th Street will close under the interstate each night next week, starting Monday, Nov. 7. The street will be closed from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. and is expected to reopen next Friday.
INDOT notes the closure will not affect IndyGo bus routes that use East 10th Street, as buses will be able to use the street until midnight each night during the week.
Meanwhile, completion of the North Split project, which was expected to be finished by the end of the year, may be pushed back to 2023 due to construction delays, INDOT told 13News earlier this week.
