WHITELAND, Ind. — A semi-trailer that jackknifed into a ditch off Interstate 65 in Johnson County closed all southbound lanes south of Whiteland Friday morning.
The crash around 9 a.m. created a backup that stretched north to Worthsville Road as drivers had to divert off I-65 at the Whiteland exit and use county roads or U.S. 31 south to Franklin to return to the interstate.
Police have not reported whether anybody was injured, and crash investigators have not shared what led to the semi ending up in the ditch.
The far left lane of northbound I-65 was also blocked by emergency crews, but cleared at 10 a.m. when police began to allow one lane of southbound traffic to pass the crash scene.
INDOT estimated the closure would last through 11 a.m.
