FISHERS, Ind. — One man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 69 in Fishers Thursday afternoon.
According to Indiana State Police, the driver of a passenger vehicle was driving north on I-69 just north of the 116th Street exit when the vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason. Police say the car struck the end of a guardrail and overturned.
The adult male driver, who investigators do not believe was wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and became trapped underneath his vehicle.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and, despite life-saving efforts, the man died at the scene.
No one else was in the vehicle, police said.
The right two lanes of I-69 were closed for about three hours after the crash, re-opening at 5:45 p.m.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
The name of the driver has not been released, though police said his family has been notified.
