INDIANAPOLIS — A ramp onto Interstate 465 on the northeast side is about to begin a lengthy closure.
The ramp from northbound Binford Boulevard to westbound I-465 is scheduled to close on Tuesday, July 5. The ramp will be closed for about three years, according to INDOT.
The closure is part of the "Clear Path 465" construction project and was planned to make room for construction and to help maintain traffic flow on I-465 during the project. Drivers exiting eastbound I-465 onto I-69 north will no longer have to merge with traffic exiting from northbound Binford Boulevard.
INDOT has two other long-term ramp closures scheduled in connection with the Clear Path 465 project this summer. The on-ramp from Allisonville Road to eastbound I-465 and the Shadeland Avenue/56th Street ramp to northbound I-465 are expected to close later in the summer and not reopen until 2024.

One bright spot in the project, INDOT reports Allisonville Road is expected to reopen between the I-465 ramps early Friday morning. Crews resurfaced the bridge deck and performed work on the sidewalks to help improve the crosswalks.
Weekend crews that have been repaving the shoulders along I-465 in the work zone are expected to take the Fourth of July holiday weekend off and resume work on July 8-10 on eastbound I-465 from the White River to Allisonville Road.
