INDOT says I-69 on track to open by end of 2024

Construction on the "Finish Line" project to connect Indianapolis and Evansville should wrap up by the end of the year.

INDIANAPOLIS — After years of construction, INDOT says the I-69 Finish Line project is finally reaching the finish line and should be complete by the end of this year.

The brand-new intestate will connect Indianapolis to Evansville.

“We are approaching the finish line. The finish line is in sight,” said Natalie Garrett, the strategic communications director for INDOT.

Construction for the new interstate has been going on since 2010. This latest segment from Martinsville to Indianapolis started in 2019 and costs $2 billion.

“The I-69 corridor has been years in the making, decades of planning, coordination along the entire corridor from Evansville up to Indianapolis,” Garrett said.
