The official detour around the construction is north on I-65, then east on I-70 from downtown back to I-465.

North of I-70, traffic on northbound I-465 will be reduced to three lanes on weekdays and two lanes on weekends while crews complete work between I-70 and East 56th Street.

The work is part of a project to restore I-465 between I-65 and U.S. 31 on the east side of Indianapolis. The six-part project is expected to be finished in spring 2025.
