INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — The 2019 INDOT construction season is officially over for the Indianapolis area.

More than $140 million was spent to resurface roads, repair concrete and rehab bridges.

More than 486 miles of interstate lanes were resurfaced or repaired. That's longer than 8,550 football fields.

INDOT contractors also fixed 45 bridges in the Indy metro area.

Here's a list of things INDOT crews also did while a roadway or lanes were closed:

  • 7,070 miles in road sweeping (more than 2.5 times across the United States)
  • 55 miles of crack sealing
  • 2,044 yards of litter pickup
  • 818 tons of material used for patches
  • 3,895 tons of material used for spot paving
  • Storm drain clearing
  • Sign replacement
  • Barrier wall/guardrail repair

Projects for 2020 should be decided sometime in the first quarter of the year.

2021 projects could include the I-69 finish line and reworking the north split.
