INDOT announces lane, ramp closures on I-465

The closures are scheduled to start at 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15 and run through 5 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 18 as part of the I-69 Finish Line project.

INDIANAPOLIS — There are several road closures planned on the southwest side of Indianapolis as workers continue to connect Interstate 465 with the new Interstate 69.

The closures are scheduled to start at 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15 and run through 5 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 18 as part of the I-69 Finish Line project

I-465 eastbound will be reduced to one lane between I-70 and U.S. 31. This will allow traffic to move to the newly-constructed eastbound lanes as construction shifts to I-465 westbound in 2024.

All three westbound lanes will remain open throughout the weekend.

“What we do to one side, we have to do to the other side,” INDOT spokesperson Kyleigh Cramer said.

The following lanes and ramps will be closed:

  • Ramp from I-465 westbound to U.S. 31 (East Street) northbound
  • Two lanes of I-465 eastbound will be closed, with one eastbound lane remaining open between Interstate 70 and U.S. 31.
  • State Road 37 (Harding Street) to and from I-465 eastbound
  • Mann Road to I-465 eastbound
  • State Road 67 (Kentucky Avenue) to and from I-465 eastbound
  • I-70 eastbound and westbound to I-465 southbound/eastbound

The ramp from U.S. 31 south to westbound I-465 is already closed and will remain that way into the spring of 2024.

The I-69 Finish Line project will connect Martinsville to Indianapolis with a new interstate. It also includes adding additional travel lanes to I-465 on the southeast side.

The whole project is expected to wrap up at the end of 2024.
