HENDRICKS COUNTY, Ind. — The Hendricks County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly crash that happened Friday morning.
Deputies responded to a report of a crash at the intersection of State Road 39 and West County Road 500 North shortly before 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 5. The intersection is roughly five miles north of Danville.
According to a preliminary investigation, deputies believe a Chevrolet pickup truck was going westbound on County Road 500 North toward State Road 39 when, for an unknown reason, the driver disregarded the stop sign for westbound traffic and was hit by a trash truck going south.
The sheriff's office confirmed the pickup truck driver, only identified at this time as a 25-year-old man from North Salem, died at the scene.
Medics took the driver of the trash truck to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The intersection was closed for approximately three hours while officers and reconstruction specialists investigated the incident. The roads are now back open.
The sheriff's office said drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash at this time.
Anyone with additional information on the incident is asked to call the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office at 317-745-6269.
