FISHERS, Ind. β The City of Fishers announced on Tuesday the opening of a new roundabout at a major intersection.
The 96th Street and Allisonville Road roundabout is open in all directions, "making travel smoother and safer at one of the main gateways to our city," Fishers said in a social media post Oct. 29.
The city thanked residents for their patience during the construction project and said there will be some lane restrictions "as crews wrap up the final touches."
Construction on the intersection, which has caused problems for drivers for years, began in March. The city said it hoped the roundabout project would help ease those problems and make the area more accessible.
"Ultimately, I think people are more comfortable with roundabouts and will be proud of what gets done," Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness told 13News in March.
