INDIANAPOLIS — A crash involving a flipped semi-trailer closed all lanes of I-465 southbound just north of West Washington Street on Indianapolis' west side early Thursday.
The crash was reported shortly before 4 a.m. and also involved at least one other passenger car. The semi flipped and hit the median.
A hazardous materials team responded to the scene due to spilled paints and diesel fuel leaking from the semi.
Two people were injured and taken to hospitals for treatment, though neither injury was believed to be serious, Indiana State Police told 13News.
All lanes of I-465 southbound and left lane of I-465 northbound were closed just north of West Washington Street for several hours Thursday morning.
An INDOT alert shortly after 9 a.m. said crews expect all but one southbound lane to be closed through Thursday's lunch hour for crash cleanup.
At 10:30 a.m., southbound traffic on I-465 was backed up past Crawfordsville Road.
