INDIANAPOLIS — The city of Fishers just announced an update to a road construction project that was originally set to start over a year ago.
A spokesperson for the city says construction on a new roundabout at the intersection of 96th Street and Allisonville Road is set to start in the middle of March.
For years, the intersection has caused problems for drivers. The city hopes this roundabout project will help ease those problems and make the area more accessible.
"Ultimately, I think people are more comfortable with roundabouts and will be proud of what gets done," said Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness.
Traffic along 96th Street will be restricted during construction, the city's spokesperson said. Traffic on Allisonville Road will remain open throughout the project.
"This intersection will be will be built in halves and there will be right ins/outs on Allisonville from 96th Street in each phase, but crossing Allisonville Road will be restricted.
The city will share more information about the detours with the nearby communities at a later date.
The construction project is scheduled to be finished this fall.
