INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating after a bicyclist was killed in a crash downtown Thursday morning.
Police responded to a report of a crash in the 500 block of South West Street, which is one block west of Lucas Oil Stadium, around 11:15 a.m. Jan. 11.
According to a preliminary investigation, a dump truck turned onto South West Street when it hit a bicyclist. Police said it is not clear at this time if the bicyclist was in the street or on the sidewalk at the time of the crash.
Police confirmed the bicyclist died at the scene.
The driver of the dump truck stayed at the scene, and alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, according to police.
South West Street will be closed from Maryland to South streets during the investigation.
