MADISON COUNTY, INDIANA, Ind. — The Madison County Sheriff's Department's Accident Investigation Team is investigated a single-vehicle deadly crash that happened Wednesday night.
Deputies responded to a report a crash in the 2400 block of State Road 236, near North Mechanicsburg Road, shortly before 9:30 p.m. Oct. 30.
Investigators preliminarily believe the Chevy SUV was going west on State Road 236 when, for an unknown reason, went off the north side of the roadway, crossed back across State Road 236 before going off the south side of the road and flipping multiple times.
Deputies said the driver, identified as 64-year-old Robert D. Wiggins, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Medics transported the passenger to St. Vincent Hospital in Anderson with non-life-threatening injuries.
