CARMEL, Ind. — Drivers on Indianapolis' north side will have to navigate the closure of a major intersection until the new year.
The intersection of 96th Street and North College Avenue, on the Marion-Hamilton County line, was fully closed beginning Monday, Dec. 2, and will remain closed for the month of December, the City of Carmel said in a statement.
The closure is due to "utility work in preparation for the construction of the roundabout at that intersection," the city said.
Carmel previously said that reconstruction of the intersection into a roundabout, which will lead to a roughly 60-day closure, is scheduled for early 2026. The roundabout is a part of a large College Avenue reconstruction project.
The city said signage indicating detour routes will be posted near the intersection for the month of December.
