GRANT COUNTY, Ind. — A semi-truck driver from Michigan died when he crashed into another semi on Interstate 69 in Grant County Friday afternoon.
State police investigators believe 45-year-old Taulant Qose, of Westland, Michigan, was driving south on I-69 near the 263-mile marker when he hit the back of another semi for an unknown reason.
Qose was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other semi, a 48-year-old man from Wolcott, Indiana, was taken to the hospital by ambulance in stable condition.
The southbound lanes of the interstate were closed for about seven hours while police investigated and cleared the crash scene. Traffic began moving again just after 11:30 p.m. Friday.
About 90 minutes later, the southbound lanes were closed about four miles north of the initial crash for a second crash with injury, INDOT reported. A Lifeline helicopter was requested to the scene but was later disregarded.
No more information was provided about that possible crash.
