INDIANAPOLIS — One person was killed Friday in a crash on the northwest side of Indianapolis.
Authorities identified victim as 19-year-old Zachary Elson of Dayton, Ohio.
State Police crash investigators determined the Elson's black Lexus was traveling north on Interstate 65 at a high rate of speed before colliding with another black passenger car near the Lafayette Road exit. After the collision, Elson's car left the road and rolled several times before landing in a wooded area.
Elson was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.
There were no other passengers in the Lexus.
Investigators do not believe the condition of the roadway contributed to the cause of the crash.
The northbound lanes of I-65 were closed for several hours while this crash was investigated.
