PHOENIX — This weekend, three Indiana Fever stars are in Phoenix for the WNBA All Star Game.
Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell were all selected to compete.
It hot in Phoenix - 108 degrees on Friday - but that's not just because they're in Arizona in the middle of July.
It's because the Fever organization is, quite literally, raising the temperature in downtown Phoenix.
At the Footprint Center, there are three Fever All-Stars. It's the second time in franchise history the Fever have sent three players to All-Star Weekend, all three on Team WNBA squaring off against Team USA.
It's an experience that Clark, Boston and Mitchell aren't taking lightly. Not just that Clark is here as a rookie. Not just that for Boston and Mitchell, it's their second All Star appearances, but the fact that they're doing it together. It means a lot to the trio.
"I think it shows, you know, where we're going and what we're capable of, but getting to share it with them too, it's a memory you're gonna share together forever. So just trying to soak it in and enjoy it," said Clark. "Obviously my first time here. I don't really know what to expect, so just kind of following their lead."
"Yeah, it's great having my Fever girls here," said Boston. "I think we just have that connection. I think it's gonna help us in this game, if we're on the court at the same time, I think it's also great to get that feel of playing with other talented women in this league because I mean, we go up against them night in and night out and so it's nice to be on the same team."
"You trust other people that you're working with to, like, I know for a fact AB do this, I know for a fact C Squared is gonna do that, you know, and you gotta appreciate it. You just kinda like it's like a second nature, so it feels good," Mitchell said.
Friday night at the Footprint Center, the three point contest and skills challenge happening. A late add to All Star weekend is veteran Fever guard, Erica Wheeler who's going to take part in the skills challenge.
