INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Fever President and Chief Operating Officer Dr. Allison Barber will step down from her role at the end of the season, Pacers Sports & Entertainment announced Wednesday.
Barber, who previously served as president of Western Governors University Advancement and chancellor of WGU Indiana before joining the Fever in 2019, will "help lead the development of the Marvella Project, a new effort to empower girls and women in Indiana through sports."
“Allison has been a tremendous leader for the Indiana Fever over the last six seasons," Mel Raines, Pacers Sports & Entertainment Chief Executive Officer, said in a statement. "We are grateful for her dedication and look forward to watching the positive impact she will continue to have during her next chapter.”
Barber is just the second person to head the Indiana Fever, and replaced longtime executive Kelly Krauskopf, who left to join the Indiana Pacers as an assistant general manager.
Prior to WGU, Barber served as president of strategic communications firm Sodenta and deputy assistant secretary of defense and special detail to the Office of Global Communications in the White House.
Led by 2024 first round draft pick Caitlin Clark, the Fever are in the midst of their best season in several years, and on Tuesday, the team secured their first playoff appearance since 2016.
