Terre Haute - Colts quarterback Peyton Manning still sounds like a protective big brother when he talks about little brother Eli. The two Manning brothers will face each other in the NFL opener September 10th when the Colts play the New York Giants.
Both were number 1 draft picks, played college football in the Southeastern Conference, led their teams to the playoffs in their second NFL season and grew up in a football family that included another pro quarterback, their father, Archie.
The noticeable difference is that Peyton has had six more seasons to build a resume that includes three straight AFC South titles and back-to-back MVP trophies.
Meanwhile, Eli, has made only 23 pro starts but has shown that he's still improving, still learning and still trying to outdo his older brother. But Peyton says his Colts teammates shouldn't care that Eli is his brother. The only thing that matters is winning the game.
